Growth Takes Time: Why I’m Still Showing Up, Even on the Hard Days

Every day we plant seeds with our kids, sometimes they land on good soil and other days it feels like planting seeds in dry, cracked ground—no fruit in sight, no visible change, just more reminders of how far we have to go. Lately I’ve been repeating myself more times that I can point, because the kids aren’t listening.

Consequences don’t seem to be working.

I lay my head down at night wondering, “What am I doing wrong? How did things go wrong?”

But even in the mess—even when it feels like nothing’s sinking in—I keep showing up.

I know I’m not getting it right all the time, I mess up too. I know not all results are immediate, I’m learning this in my business. But I truly believe that growth takes time, sometimes longer than I would like.

Motherhood isn’t about perfection, it’s about progress. It’s really about planting, watering and trusting that God is working in the soil—even when I can’t see it. It’s the same way God works in my life.

Every day, I need to show up. I need to choose to give grace one more time. It’s saying the same truth again in love. It’s reminding my kids (and myself) that they’re still growing, still learning. They’re gonna make mistakes, that’s part of growing up, because we all make mistakes.

I’m still growing and learning.

The truth is, God hasn’t called me to be the perfect mom—He’s called me to be their mom. He’s called me to be faithful. And that looks like being consistent, praying when I’m tired, showing up with love even when I feel frustrated and trusting that He’s doing something I can’t yet see.

Sometimes growth looks like little things:

  • A kid remembering to say “please” and “thank you” without being reminded.
  • A true apology after a fight.
  • A moment when we have a connection.
  • A moment when they remember something we’ve been working on.

Those moments remind me that the seeds are taking root. Slowly. Quietly. And in their own time. These small moments are wins and things I need to be grateful for.

If you’re in a season where the hard days feel endless and the progress feels invisible, I want to remind you: you’re not failing—you’re planting. Celebrate the small wins each day and thank God for them.

Keep showing up, mama. Even when it’s messy. Even when it feels like no one notices. Even when you’re tired.

God sees it all. And He’s growing something beautiful in you—and in your kids.

You’re doing holy work. You’re not alone.

Hold on to hope. Keep showing up. Because growth takes time, I see this everyday. 🌱
